AAP (Animal Advocacy and Protection) is a European animal welfare organization dedicated to the welfare of exotic animals. It is our mission to end their suffering by rescuing animals in need and advocate for better laws and regulations.
The APL (Animal Planning & Logistics) team is looking for an enthusiastic and energetic colleague to strengthen their team. Do you want to secure a great future for rescued animals and are you passionate about zoological parks? Do you speak German? Then this is the job for you!
The APL team is responsible for the optimal flow of our animals, starting with their rescue and ending with their outplacement. Our team is in charge of both of our rescue centers located in the Netherlands (Almere) and Spain (Villena). You will be based in Almere.
What will you do?
-You research, build and strengthen a worldwide network of partners with the goal of relocating our animals (mainly zoos, wildlife parks and sanctuaries)
-You investigate partners’ suitability according to AAP’s guidelines, in line with our values
-You coordinate outplacement projects of our animals
-You combine our Partners’ needs with AAPs' interests, acting as key point of contact
-You follow up and regularly monitor your outplacement projects
-You tightly collaborate with your peers: the Rescue Coordinator, Logistics Coordinator, Behaviorists and Veterinary Team to ensure each project runs smoothly and efficiently
-You get the work done. You ask for feedback. You have ideas on how to improve your daily work and constantly revise it to ensure it is efficient and optimal
-You bring your ideas to the table and contribute to the strategy of the Organization
-You travel on a regular basis within the EU (~20%).

Who are we looking for?
-You love animals and actively want to have a lasting impact in improving their welfare
-You are curious, passionate about learning and team success
-You have demonstrable knowledge in zoology, ex situ wildlife management (including permits and regulations) and previous work experience, ideally with zoological parks, sanctuaries or rescue centers
-Excellent verbal and written communication in both English (main language within AAP) and German
-You have a driver license B.

In Almere we have 95 employees and more than 200 volunteers. We work in a spacious and modern location, in the middle of the green heart of Almere. Our office and facility center are located on the same grounds as our rescued animals. Nowhere else can you see the result of your work so directly!
In Spain (Villena we have 24 employees and 16 volunteers.
